Although the FedEx web site is quite slow today, their telephone customer service is excellent. 1-800-Go-FedEx (1-800-463-3339) When the prompts start, “press or say, Zero” – andy

Considering QuickTime 6? Before you make a big and expensive boo-boo,
consider this:
If you need the QuickTime Pro features you're going to have to cough up at
least another $29.99. QuickTime Pro keys for versions 4 or 5 are worthless
to QuickTime 6. You need to buy a new key.
But wait; there's more. If you want to play MPEG-2 content, you'll have to
shell out an additional $19.99 for the special OS X secret MPEG-2 decoder
ring.
And that's not all: If you need to play MPEG-2 content under Mac OS 9,
you'll have to shell out ANOTHER $19.99 to get an MPEG-2 decoder ring for
Mac OS 9 — the one you bought for OS X is worthless in OS 9.
Finally, if you use Final Cut Pro, you definitely don't want to install
version $ix. Apple says, “QuickTime 6 has not been qualified for use with
Final Cut Pro… you should continue to use QuickTime 5.x.”
Oh, and here's one last tip… if you already made the big boo-boo, Apple's
got you covered: You can download the official QuickTime 5 Reinstaller for
Mac OS X at http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n120084.

Well, the wife beat me at chess again. She's truly amazing. I also saw a little bit of her competitive side. She tries to make me feel better, but I know she can whip me any time. I was well consoled by Blue Bell Cookies & Cream, though. Feeling much better now. 😉
G'night – andy
I decided to stick with the Transmitter theme. The other theme was faster, but as a friend of mine pointed out, not all browsers render equally. Not to mention the fact that I just plain like this theme. I'm a sucker for slick graphics and depth of layout. The simple colors and mouse-overs were very nice, but I'd rather go for consistency for now. – andy

I agree with John on many points. Through his article, I was a bit uncertain, but in his conclusion, I whole-heartedly agree with he suggested actions. I think that there should be a basic free service (5 MB web publishing space & free email) but charging a modest fee of $100 a year for 100MB of space isn't that bad. I'd be much happier at $50. Honestly, I used to publish a log of iPhotos on mac.com, but I ran out of space. Instead I started posting them to my own web site through the export – but the mac.com site was much easier. Will I sign up? I'll probably do the introductory $50 option, but I can't yet justify $100 for myself – then again, if I didn't already have a server, I'd say it's a decent deal. – andy
